The social media startup had been subleasing about 6,000 square feet of space in G.1440’s Clipper Mill office. G.1440 is in the process of moving to Timonium, so SocialToaster also needed to relocate. The company’s new office at the ETC in Waverly is about 3,000 square feet and includes access to resources shared among tenants, such as conference space and restrooms.
SocialToaster plans to move into the incubator in late December or early January. The lease at Clipper Mill is up in January.
SocialToaster CEO Brian Razzaque said the company settled on the ETC because the center offers more flexible lease terms, whereas other buildings Razzaque considered wanted a minimum of a three-year lease agreement.
“One of the challenges we face is not being able to predict how we’re going to grow,” Razzaque said. “We have a business plan and some assumptions, but the reality is it’s hard to predict how large we’re going to be and what might happen in three or five years.”
The 15-employee company posted $500,000 in revenue in 2012 and Razzaque said the company is on track to top that this year.
SocialToaster helps client companies better interact with customers and fans through social media, in an effort to expand their marketing reach.
SocialToaster has been around since 2010, but the company has never been at the center of the Baltimore tech scene, Razzaque said. He is looking forward to feeling more connected to other entrepreneurs and startup companies at the ETC, he said.
“I think it’s good to be in an environment with other exciting, high-growth startups,” he said. “We’re looking forward to that.”
