JMI Equity Gains 13% Stake in Vocus after Beltsville Company’s Merger with iContact


JMI Equity has reported $41.54 million stake in Vocus Inc. (NASDAQ: VOCS), a Beltsville, Md.-based provider of cloud-based marketing and PR software.

JMI Equity holds 3.03 million shares, or 13.1 percent, of Vocus. Its stock was trading around $13.73 intraday on Monday.

The shares were issued as consideration for JMI's equity interests in iContact Corp., a Raleigh-Durham, N.C.-based provider of cloud-based email and social marketing software, which Vocus acquired for $169 million last week.

JMI Equity had invested $40 million in a series B round in iContact in 2010.

Founded in 1992, JMI Equity is a Baltimore-based growth equity firm focused on software, internet, business services and healthcare IT companies.

Vocus provides a suite that combines social marketing, search marketing, email marketing and publicity to help businesses attract, engage and retain customers.
