Chantilly-Based PhishMe Raises $2.5 Million in First Round led by DC-based Paladin Capital Group

PhishMe, the Chantilly-based developer of software that allows companies to educate employees about Internet scams by emulating real phishing attacks, said on Thursday it has raised $2.5 million in its first round of funding, led by DC-based Paladin Capital Group. The company said it will use the proceeds to expand in the U.S. and abroad, as well bolster sales and business development activities and solidify future technology partnerships. Christopher Steed, a vice president at Paladin Capital, will join the company's board of directors. Since its launch in 2008, PhishMe said it has trained over 3.5 million workers to protect themselves from the tactics and scams employed by cyber criminals. Employees are immersed in real-world "spear phishing experiences"; then, if found to be susceptible, presented with appropriate training.
