Falls Church-Based Acentia Acquires Business Computer Applications

Acentia, a Falls Church-based provider of technology and management services, said on Monday it has acquired Atlanta-based Business Computer Applications (BCA), a provider of IT services to heath agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Acentia said the acquisition significantly expands its presence in the health IT market through the addition of the company's CIMS Information Management Services contract vehicle. Todd Stottlemyer, the CEO of Acentia, said the deal "[provides] us with a critical contract vehicle, CIMS, which allows us to compete for important full and open work with the CDC." More than 30 employees based in Atlanta and Hyattsville, Md., will join Acentia's staff.
