D.C. startup BlueCart (TechBUZZ ’15 Spring) raises $4M to connect restaurants and suppliers
Improvonia, now BlueCart, a tech startup based in the District, has closed a $4 million funding round to scale up its platform for connecting restaurants and suppliers for paperless ordering.
The Web-based platform connects suppliers with buyers in the hospitality space — hospitals, hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, liquor stores and wineries are counted among its users, according to founders Konstantin Zvereff and Jag Bansal.
Over the past year, the user base has grown to more than 2,000 buyers and sellers, largely because of the network effect employed by the company in bringing aboard new customers. Whenever a new restaurant opts to use the platform, its entire network of sellers is loaded onto the network, each of whom are then pinged by the company to join as a new user.
