Having launched more than 250 competitively-selected companies over the past five years, TechBUZZ is the East Coast’s premier event where early-stage entrepreneurs and active investors come together to see the best and brightest, to connect with one another, and to celebrate the strength of the startup scene in our region and the East Coast.
The fast-paced and interactive program set for Thursday, June 16th from 1-7:30pm at the Columbus Center located in the Inner Harbor; Baltimore, Maryland provides top rate networking and industry insights, as well as presentations from a cohort of 20 start-ups across industry sector. Whether on the stage or in the audience, innovative company builders and active investors will participate in an action-packed session that surfaces best-practices for company growth and the latest trends across a wide range of technology sectors.
Accomplished CEOs and Founders Share Real-Time Lessons Learned
Randy Brouckman, CEO of EdgeConneX will keynote TechBUZZ 2016 Summer at the Columbus Center in Baltimore on June 16th. Mr. Brouckman has more than 25 years experience in telecommunications and software. Prior to working at EdgeConneX, Randy served as Entrepreneur in Residence at the Telecommunications Development Fund (TDF) as well as CEO of Wade Capital Group, a company sponsored by a large private equity firm focused on consolidation and growth in the telecommunications marketplace. Randy has served as CTO, COO and CEO at several successful public and private enterprises, including BSG Clearing Solutions, Telispark, Wireless World Solutions and Iridium, where he led a successful reorganization of the company. Randy also worked with Nextel to start its Nextel Ventures division. Randy started his career with Bellcore, progressing through a number of management roles culminating in his position as Executive Director of Network Operations Systems.
Additionally, MAVA has announced its Closing Plenary Panel, featuring three CEOs or founders, each from different industry and stage of market launch. These will include SameGrain Founder Anne Balduzzi; STAQ CEO and Co-Founder James Curran; and ZeroFox CEO and Founder James Foster. The panel of operators and former TechBUZZ Alum will share their individual company stories of accelerated market growth since their time on the TechBUZZ stage.
TechBUZZ Attracts Broad Spectrum of Investors with Deep Industry Experience
TechBUZZ attracts a diverse and experienced cross-section of Early Stage Investors, institutional VCs, Corporate funds and experienced CEOs who mentor and seek building long-term relationships with presenters and attendees alike. The program features two interactive investor discussion sessions that provide valuable feedback in response to the TechBUZZ presentations, as well as insight into domain areas of investment expertise. History and Results of TechBUZZ
Piloted in Baltimore in 2010, TechBUZZ is a year-long program that provides a continuous platform for early stage companies by showcasing up to 60 companies over the course of three events per year. Recognized nationally, TechBUZZ is today one of MAVA’s annual flagship programs and routinely attracts between 300-400 attendees to each pitch event hosted at a variety of venues across the region.
“By any measure, selected presenters are companies to track, watch and support, as TechBUZZ has become one of the most results-oriented platforms of its kind in the country,” said Julia Spicer, Executive Director, MAVA and founder of TechBUZZ. “Alumni companies have raised more than $525M in total aggregate financing since the launch of the program in Baltimore five years ago.”
In addition to showcasing their fundable, market-ready enterprises, the companies who have earned one of the coveted spots on the program benefit from increased visibility and industry interest which helps to secure new customers, hire talent and attract investment capital.

In the Medicare market, insurers face an impending tidal wave of increased data reporting requirements – changing from submitting samples of six fields of data annually up to 1700 fields of data weekly.
