Mid-Atlantic Venture Association Elects Four New Directors
Steve Balistreri, Trevor Chaplick, Mark Maloney and Tom Roberts Join MAVA Board
McLean, VA - May 18, 2010 The Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) today announced that four industry leaders have been elected to the board of directors for three-year terms: Steve Balistreri of Argy, Wiltse & Robinson, P.C.; Trevor J. Chaplick of Proskauer Rose LLP; Mark Maloney of Paladin Capital Group; and Thomas D. Roberts III of Harbert Venture Partners LLC. With the election of the four new directors, 27 industry leaders serve on the MAVA board.
Steve Balistreri is an audit partner at Argy, a boutique accounting firm based in McLean, VA. He leads the firm's technology industry practice. With 20 years of diverse audit, accounting and consulting experience, he specializes in working with technology companies who seek or have received venture capital or private equity investments. Balistreri has a B.S. in Accounting from Marquette University.
Trevor Chaplick is a partner in the corporate department and managing partner of the Washington, DC office of Proskauer. He represents technology and growth companies, underwriters, private equity firms, and venture capital funds in a broad range of corporate and transactional matters, including public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, financings, as well as general corporate and securities law matters. Chaplick is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, and the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
Mark Maloney is co-founder and managing director of Paladin Capital Group in Washington, DC. He is an active member on the investment committees of all Paladin funds. He also serves as the firm's Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. He is responsible for Paladin's new business development, client servicing, fundraising and compliance related activities. Maloney received his B.S. degree from Towson University. Paladin Capital Group is an established, multi-stage private equity firm that invests in growing companies through acquisitions and expansion capital. Paladin has more than $950 million of committed capital across several distinct funds.
Tom Roberts is a founding member of Harbert Venture Partners, an active investor in early growth stage companies, based in Richmond, VA. Roberts focuses on software, technology services and healthcare IT investment opportunities. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia. The firm provides growth capital to early stage information technology and healthcare companies primarily across the southeastern United States. Harbert Venture Partners is part of Harbert Management Corporation, which has approximately $2.66 billion in committed capital and assets under management.
