MAVA Wraps Up Capital Connection '10
MAVA's Marquee Event Showcases the Latest in Technology Innovation and Investment Strategies
McLean, VA - May 21, 2010 - Capital Connection '10, the annual flagship event for the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association, concluded Thursday a program that featured presentations from over 55 companies and two dozen industry luminaries speaking on the latest technology and investment trends and strategies.
A national audience of nearly 700 investors, advisors, government decision-makers, and entrepreneurs attended the two-day conference, May 19 and 20 in Baltimore.
Keynote speaker John Eck, President, NBC Network and Media Works, capped Thursday's agenda with his presentation, "Without Stopping: Success in the Age of Constant Innovation," when he shared insights into NBC's business proposition in an environment of continuing changes in content delivery and distribution.
Earlier in the day, Joe Mecane, Executive Vice President and co-head of the US Listing and Cash Execution business, NYSE Euronext, discussed the role that fragmentation in the marketplace plays and the various actions the exchange could take to limit future extreme swings in intra-day trading.
"This year's conference focused on six key technology sectors: software/IT, cybersecurity, digital media/entertainment, education, health IT, and alternative energy," said Julia Spicer, MAVA's executive director. "The speakers on the program - along with the growth and early stage companies doing business in these sectors - provided our audience with knowledge, advice, and insights to the latest in business trends and technology development. The networking and the establishment of new business relationships also provided key rewards for those attending."
