Two Maryland startups, TopBox and Tissue Analytics Inc., won cash and bragging rights for their businesses at the second annual Beta City event held at City Garage in Port Covington Thursday.
Beta City showcases local entrepreneurs and startups and allows investors a chance to see presentations from local, growing companies. The event is hosted by local co-working space and incubator Betamore and includes a Venture Capital Pitch Day competition. Eight companies got to present their business plans, products and ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to win up to $75,000 in prizes.
Software company TopBox took home the 2016 Pitch Day crown.
The startup offers software for contact centers to analyze customer interactions. It is designed to help companies understand the issues that most affect their customers through trackable data.
